Did you know that over 60.4% of statistics are made up on the spot? Usually by writers/influencers that have an opinion about the facts. Not the facts themselves, but what they would like the facts to mean. Remember Alternate Facts in the social discourse? Or, In spite of the Fact? Fortunately, Facts are stubborn things that cannot be altered by wishful thinking, inclinations, passion nor bullying.
The Facts about CBD
Modern Medicinals has always taken the direct, simple, observational approach to facts. Ten years ago, no one knew the facts about CBD. The mythology that grew up around THC slipped over to costume the emerging CBD business. Wishful thinking took over the published information. Those concerned with their health don’t want wishful thinking. Amazingly enough, they prefer results! Only through planned trials and observation of results have we seen and understood the repeatable positive results using Mm CBD oil.
When I first thought of becoming an extractor, I admit, I looked at the internet. What I found was a clown car of amateurs, wishing they knew something no one else knew. Making it up and (some of them) blowing themselves up, following their alternate facts.
Many of you know my story. Furniture making for 30+ years. Forced into early retirement due to severe joint issues. Daily oxycodone for pain. My wishful thinking was, “Can I make something at home to get me off this need to take oxy?” Luckily, the facts were there. I just had to sort them out from the noise.
Refining the Mm mission
I made mis-steps, too. The first attempt at a tincture contained alcohol. At the time the regulations specified 45% alcohol tinctures. Only after frequent suggestions did they allow that tinctures could be oil based. The alcohol was too rough on the mouth. A kinder ingredient was needed and Mm switched to a sustainable oil carrier base.
We knew that Mm CBD oil was going to be used by people burdened with very sensitive health situations. Possible contamination or triggers needed to be recognized and removed. Added taste and smell, allergens, non-organic ingredients, toxins gasses or chemicals proved to be detrimental to the purity.
When we started Modern Medicinals in 2015, THC dominated the market. Plants with high percentages of CBD low THC had not been breed. The race was for the highest percentage of THC. Today, the CBD cultivars market is robust.

How to Guarantee Purity
Because the CBD plants available in 2015-16 had 2-5% THC, there was some THC in the ticture. The regulation was no more than .3% THC to be legal. As we advanced our processing technique by trying subtle changes to each step, we produced a batch with almost no THC. Our approach to analyzing the results was strictly objective observation. This was the most effective batch yet. No alcohol, no THC. We only changed those two items and discovered a 100% bioavailable CBD oil that became our flagship product. Ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Mm is still made with only two certified organic ingredients. No fancy machines, no solvents or gas, no environmental impact.
