Rob Gronkowski, tight end, Super Bowl Champion, and notorious spiker of footballs has set his sights on a new end zone: allowing NFL players to use CBD for recovery.
“For the first time in more than a decade, I am pain-free and that is a big deal.”
– Rob Gronkowski
Using CBD for recovery is a hot topic among athletes. As the dangers of opioids become increasingly more obvious, people of all stripes are looking for alternatives to addictive drugs. But professional athletes are often prevented from using CBD because of archaic restrictions imposed by the largest sports leagues.
“I want the same opportunity for my friends and teammates out there [to use CBD.] That’s why I’m advocating for CBD to be acceptable for all players to be used for recovery,” added Gronk.
And it’s not just Gronkowski who is tooting the CBD horn. Terrell Davis, Hall of Fame running back for the Denver Broncos is also a big believer in the positive benefits of CBD. “In a few years, hopefully sooner rather than later, CBD will be something that players who are currently playing will be able to use as a measure of taking care of the pain management, the inflammation,” Terrell Davis said. “It’s a beautiful thing. It’s worked for me. It’s worked for a lot of players.”
For Gronkowski, any talks of an NFL comeback would have to come with league acceptance of CBD as viable alternative for players as they look to manage their own pain.
“I don’t want to be banned from playing the sport I love because I’m using a product that anyone can buy right off the shelf at their local pharmacy.”
That makes a lot of sense to us!
